Provided structural design services for this two-story, 49,000-sf library located in an urban neighborhood. The exposed structure required close collaboration with the architect to achieve the intended vision and quality of construction. The library features three vaulted roofs constructed of exposed steel framing. Close collaboration with the design team resulted in a publicly bid project that was completed on budget; although only one general contractor submitted a bid. The team was able to connect the interests and goals of our clients in this challenging bidding and construction climate. Construction costs were approximately $13 million. John McDonald served as Principal-in-Charge while with another firm.
