Provided structural design for this $9.5 million, 175-bed housing complex on the Willamette University campus. The design included a dining facility and conference rooms as well as living quarters. The project also included a renovation component that included adding an atrium space and conversion of rooms in the existing Kaneko Hall. The four-story post-tensioned concrete flat slab living quarters connect to the existing hall through pedestrian bridges spanning through the open steel framed dining facility. The thoughtful design helped to incorporate a wide array of programming that elaborates on the site's three themes — sustainability, Japanese heritage and community service — and encourages intellectual stimulation beyond the classroom. While with another firm, John McDonald served as Principal-in-Charge.
