Art House Opens

by Paige Viehouser

Construction of the Pacific NW College of Art’s first campus project is complete and students are already making it their home. Located in the North Park Blocks, Art House is a six-story, 48,000-square foot student housing facility with retail space on the ground floor. Lauded for its design aesthetic, the exterior façade features aluminum panels, broken down into a ridged pattern, that give off an entirely different look depending on the light. Design occurred over four months and incorporated offset window patterns at each floor, deep foundations to accommodate poor site soil conditions, and early structural packages to assist the owner and contractor in meeting their nine month construction schedule. Designed to meet LEEDTM Gold certification, this project was a fun challenge for our engineers and is a beautiful addition to the Park Blocks.
