Catena consulting engineers teamed with R & H Construction for the 2013 Canstruction competition held in Portland, Oregon. With the theme “One Fish, Two Fish, Help us Fill a Dish,” the R & H / catena team won the “Structural Ingenuity” award.
Sponsored by The Society for Design Administration, Canstruction brings members of the design and construction community together in a unique design/build competition. Competing teams put their skills to work designing structures made entirely out of canned foods. A variety of juried awards are handed out, such as Best Meal and Structural Ingenuity. Additionally, members of the local community can vote for the People’s Choice award during the week of the event. At the end of the competition, all food is donated to Oregon Food Bank to help combat hunger in our community. The 2013 competition netted the Oregon Food Bank nearly 46,000 pounds of food, equaling 97,661 meals for Oregon families.
