It was a beautiful day for the Chris White/AIA Oregon Scholarship Golf Tournament! This year we brought our cornhole boards to our sponsored hole for a little extra fun. 😊

An event we look forward to each year, the proceeds help fund the Chris White Scholarship for Emerging Professionals – created by AIA Portland to offset financial barriers to licensure often encountered by those pursuing their first license to practice architecture.

We had a great day supporting the ACE Mentor Program at their annual Golf Tournament yesterday. What a great organization to get involved with!

Proceeds from this tournament are used to support the mentor program, provide summer camp opportunities to juniors, and award scholarships to promising seniors who want to study architecture, construction management, engineering or the trades.

We had a great time hosting a panel discussion focused on the Oregon State Capitol Renovation, a generational project. A little background on this project: SRG Partnership led the master planning effort in 2007. In 2011, the RFP was issued for the design of the Capitol renovation. Today, the Capitol is under construction with completion still a few years out.
A big thank you to the panelists for helping us share the story of the state capitol. Another big thank you to John McDonald and Chris Thompson for helping organize this event, moderating the panel discussion (Chris) and speaking as a panelist (John). It was a fun event and great to hear the timeline of the project and how special this project is to each person who has worked on it.

We celebrated the grand opening of Bethel School D

We celebrated the grand opening of Bethel School District's new Cascade Middle School last week!
This project included the replacement of Cascade Middle School with an 85,000-square-foot facility serving 550 students. The program for the school includes new classrooms, CTE spaces, a Media Center, band and choir rooms, and two gyms.
Two ancillary projects were included as part of the overall work. An existing music building was renovated to house a community health clinic, and a new synthetic-turf softball field for Willamette High School was built between the new middle school and the high school. The field was designed with removable fencing to convert into a larger soccer field.

We can't end National Back to School Month without

We can't end National Back to School Month without showing off the newly renovated Canby High School.
This project included a new two-story, 30,000-square-foot classroom addition immediately to the south of the Gold Gymnasium, Boiler room, Book Storage room, and Library. The Book Storage and Boiler rooms were demolished and the roof re-framed to accommodate an open common space and connectivity between the new addition and the remainder of the Main Building. Three existing classrooms within the Main Building were also demolished to create a single large storage room.
Voluntary seismic improvements were done at the grandstand roof structure to mitigate deficiencies and repair spalling and reinforcing corrosion within several concrete columns/pilasters along the south wall of the Field Building.

Welcome to catena, Juan David Real Di Bello!
Originally from Panama City, Panama, Juan David comes to catena as an intern after finishing his first year as a graduate student at Stanford University, majoring in Structural Engineering. What he likes most about engineering is the challenge and all the different ways you can approach the challenge to find a solution.
In his free time, Juan David likes to play video games and watch tv; he especially enjoys American football. During his time here, he is most excited to learn more about the field of structural engineering and how it works outside of a classroom. He is also looking forward to spending time with family that he doesn't see often.
