Paving the way to attract STEM students, catena designed a two-story, 19,000-square-foot expansion to DeJardin Hall providing additional science labs as well as collaboration and support spaces. The steel frame structure utilizes buckling restrained braced frames to resist earthquakes and wind loads. Particular attention was given to ensure that every classroom and lab space are column free enhancing collaboration. With construction costs totaling $7.5 million, the design features multiple science related installations throughout the building. The project was completed in 2019.
