Pickathon Music Festival Stages

Happy Valley, Oregon

Owner: Pickathon | Portland State University

Architect: Portland State University School of Architecture students

Each year the Portland State University School of Architecture students put their skills to use by designing a stage for the Pickathon music festival. We are proud to be part of that process by providing our structural engineering expertise to their designs.

The Cherry Hill Stage at Pickathon was designed by Portland State University students as an interactive, temporary structure built entirely from recycled electrical cable drums. Set on a dramatically sloped site at Pendarvis Farm, the design emphasizes minimal environmental impact, easy assembly and disassembly, and creative use of unconventional materials. Constructed by students with limited experience, the project required innovative field adjustments for stability. Now in its 10th year, PSU’s collaboration with Pickathon continues to demonstrate sustainable, zero-waste design for festival infrastructure.
