This project added 100,000 square feet of classroom and student services space to create a true SE Portland campus for PCC.
The Learning Commons added a 40,000-square-foot, three-story building that houses the Student Computing Center, Student Learning Center, Volunteer Literacy Center, library services, study areas and four classrooms. Completed in 2014 with $9 million in construction costs, the Learning Center received LEED Gold certification.
The Student Commons building is 66,000 square feet, three stories high and houses an expanded bookstore, five science classrooms/labs, six general purpose classrooms, four career technical education/computer classrooms, a new answer center for better student service delivery and a new STEM center. The Student Commons’ structure is a combination of steel framed upper floors and post tension concrete lower levels. Completed in 2014 with $16 million in construction costs, the building received LEED Silver certification.
The project received Honorable Mention, Best of Education at the IIDA Oregon Design Excellence Awards in 2014.
