Provided design services for the Providence Newberg Medical Center, a regional healthcare facility consisting of Hospital, Administration and Medical Office Building components totaling approximately 200,000-sf. The design incorporated three separate structures, consolidating the essential functions in the hospital and locating ancillary occupancies in the other two structures. This allowed the structures to be designed with varying design criteria. This approach met the owners programming needs while reducing construction costs. The project was the first hospital in the country to receive LEED Gold certification. While with another firm, John McDonald served as Principal-in-Charge and the core team of engineers at catena were part of the project team.
